Want to Avoid Life Ruining Mistakes?
You are mistaken, not understanding the Scriptures nor the power of God (Matthew 22:29)
God has graciously given us two pathways that lead away from mistakes and toward truth: the Scriptures, and nature. When Jesus spoke these words the Scriptures consisted of everything that we call the Old Testament. Jesus had more to say and He especially appointed the apostles to write down what He said and taught. Today we have this in the New Testament. The apostle Paul said that these two testaments are completely sufficient to equip us to do everything God asks of us (2 Timothy 3:17). The apostle Peter said that God has given us everything we need for life and godliness (2 Peter 1:3).
The other path away God has provided for us is nature. Psalm 19 says that the heavens are shouting out that God is alive. Every sunrise is a reminder of God's power in keeping the universe turning, and a reminder of His grace in allowing us to witness one more day. In the Book of Romans it says that what has been created is plain for everyone to see and enough to let them know that the God of the Bible lives.
So, since the Scriptures and nature all prove God is real, why don't more people believe? The Bible says that they suppress the truth (Romans 1:18). Suppress means they push it way or hold it down. Picture yourself in a swimming pool struggling to hold a beach ball under water. You get the picture.
Today you have the choice between being pushing away the truth or living in the truth. God has shown you the way to find truth. The only question is will you follow it. Today, let's all acknowledge the universe sustaining power of God. Let's all seek truth in His word and find the skill and strength to do what He wants us to do.
