For our citizenship is in heaven, from which also we eagerly wait for a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ; (Philippians 3:20)
Citizenship has been in the news lately. When you come to the boarder of the U.S. your visa and passport are checked before you can enter the country. In a similar way when we come to the edge of eternity our passport and visa must be ready for inspection, and they are!
The 20th of the gifts we are given at our moment of salvation is new citizenship. Our spiritual passport and visa have been stamped with the blood of Christ. We are citizens of heaven. While our residence remains on the earth, here in Estes Park, our true home, true allegiance, and true future is in heaven with God. So, with regard to the present world system we are on the one hand, strangers and pilgrims here on earth (1 Peter 2:11). On the other hand, we are ambassadors of our true home (2 Corinthians 5:20).
Just as an ambassador of the United States represents our national values and interests abroad, so let us also be representing here in Estes Park the values and interests of our God in heaven who desires all people to be saved and to come to a knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4). Be God’s truth-teller today.
